Colon Infections span a wide range of diseases ranging from travelers’ diarrhea which primarily strikes between 15-20 million people a year traveling to developing countries after ingesting food or drinks that are contaminated by bacteria, to hepatic encephalopathy caused by cirrhosis of the liver, to what can be called infections affecting primarily the elderly population namely clostridium dificile infections that primarily strike elderly in the hospital or nursery care environment and diverticulitis which affects between 5 and 10% of the population that is older than 60.
